I have created a contacts list and I have added my own custom columns. By default “Last Name” is a compulsory field, now I want to change this, where can I do the settings ?
In WSS the default field inherited from a template cannot be changed. To achieve this you need to either create a custom list or change the name of the Last Name column to one that matched your need
