CEWP problem caused by human error

Asked By: Fredrick    Date: Sep 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 762

I was trying to add a CEWP that contained links overlayed on a graphic when I
caused the CEWP to fail the entire site with a 404 error - a bad link is
redirecting the site on access. How can I remove the CEWP and regain access to
my site without doing a restore.
I tried going to the webpart edit page but it is unavailable as well.

Is publishing turned on? You can navigate to the Pages library and restore
a previous version of the page.

Otherwise, fire up SharePoint Designer and open the default page that way.

Try to type the url of the page in the browser again. Append the url with
the following phrase

*?contents=1 *

and enter. This will navigate you to a page, where you can go and remove the
webpart. Hope it helps.

SharePoint Designer. Edit the CEWP in there to the right link.
