Can't seem to get IFilter for PDF to work

Asked By: Phillip    Date: Jan 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1329

I am running SPS with sp2 on a Win2k box. I recently installed the
Adobe Ifilter on the server and attempted to index a file share containing
PDF documents.

I have stopped and started the MSSearch and Index services per the
ReadMe file of the ifilter but still get a error message in my content
management webpart. The message states: "URL is excluded because the URL
extension is restricted as defined in the file type rules.

Is anyone successfully indexing PDF documents within SharePoint?

Thoughts / Comments ??

we are using the PDF-IFilter 5.0 from Adobe. The indexing  is working
fine. Have you checked the readme-file in the installation-folder?
Perhaps You have to add PDF-File Type to the list of file  Types.
