Can't get site to come up, possible AD confusion.

Asked By: Parvesh    Date: Jul 31    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 528

At my office we have an older Windows 2000 Server that is our domain
controller. It also hosts our sharepoint intranet. Most of our
servers are Novell. Earlier this year we got a new server that I
installed Windows 2003 Server on and my intention was to set up
sharepoint on this server from scratch and just copy what I needed
from the other server. The sharepoint on there isn't set up correctly
and I didn't want to transfer all of its problems to the new server.
When I first set up the 2003 server and joined it to the domain
everything seemed to be working fine except that when I installed
sharepoint services it never recognized any of the user accounts that
exist on the DC. I don't know if I left something out or what. So
when I have tried to create a site on sharepoint and put a user that
exists in the domain as the owner I get and error that the user does
not exist. I finally managed to get it to let me create a site, but
when I try to access it from another computer via web browser I get
"Service Unavailable." What am I doing wrong???
