Can't extend a virtual server

Asked By: Krista    Date: Nov 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 5276

We are using SPS 2003, and I am attempting to set up a new (isolated)
portal. I created and configured a new virtual server, application
pool, and new portal. From Central Administration, I click on "Extend
an existing virtual server from the Virtual Server List page" and I do
not see my virtual server until I click "see complete list". At that
point, I click on the virtual server name (it is not extended), and I
get the "Virtual Server Settings" page - not the "Extend Virtual
Server" page. There doens't seem to be any other way to extend this
server - does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

If you got the virtual  server settings page then it is extended.

When you created the portal, you had to use some virtual server  and creating the portal extended it.

Restore portal once if error to restore, first clear existing config database and create a new one.

Unless you extended it from within services in which case you get what you're

Unextend and then create a new portal
