Calendar Questions

Asked By: Rozi    Date: Jan 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1440

I go to Server/public I go to add a new folder, choose Appointment from the drop down and click OK,

The OK button goes Grey, but the Dialog box never goes away. A + representing sub folders appears next to my workspace name in the menu to the right, but that can't be clicked on to expand.

Do you know why this happens?

Having said that, As I mentioned on my previous post after clicking OK
click the Cancel button  to close the window. This seems to be a glitch
of the (undocumented und unsupported) OWA interface.

You also can't see the folder  you just created by expanding anything
underneath the workspace  folder. This seems to be another glitch but the
folder does exist. If you are not sure if the folder really was created
open it in a browser using the URL provided in my previous post.

I had the same problem and have commented on the SPSFAQ item. I tried three
times and still it wouldn't show.

Then, a week or so later when I wanted to go try again, the three calendars
showed up clear as day. So it seems kind of like a refresh problem -- kind
of like the IE6 problem. Anyway, it's there after I went out and back in,
and I can reference the url in a web part just as advertised. I can't seem
to figure out how to force it to month view, though. Anyone know how to do

I have it working just fine now. If you pull down the web part that
SIegried sent, you can edit the HTML on that part so there is a
command that adds on to the end of the link in the web part.

I have set up the calendar  and can modify the views in the iFrame.
Another user can see the calendar, but can't add  a listing or modify
an existing one. I am the only person that can do that. Even though
the other users are Coordinators as well.

Is there a way around this?

Even i faced the same problem. But i Managed to find two solutions

First solution is

1) Map the webstorage system to m drive;
2) Browse to M;\localhost\sharepoint portal server\applications
3) Work space name is the workspace  under which you created
the appointment item.

4) Inside the workspace folder  you can find the calendar  or
appointment item folder you created
5) Right click  and select properties from the appointment item folder
6) Go the security tab and add  the user who should have permissions
to write to the calendar.
7) Give the newly added user full control for this folder.
8) Even giving the user write permissions alone should be enough.
But i didn't test this, I gave full control to this user.
9) Giving full control should let the user add events to the

Other solutions

1) Make the user local administrator on the sharepoint box.
But i think the first one is more practical

I have set up the calendar. I am also able to grant permissions
for various users to add  events to the calendar.

But i am not able to modify the view of the calendar  in the frame.
I just get the current monthly view of the calendar. I am not
able to navigate to the previous and next months in the calendar.
I just edited the url and added it as a webpart to my dashboard.
can anybody describe to how to modify the view of the calendar so that
i can view the events that has occured in the past months or something
in the future.

Ryan you owe me one, i see in your mail that you are able to modify
the views. Let me know how you did this.

I am unable to get this web part working. I have the same problem
that everybody has. I did exactly what was said in SPSFAQ060124.
It doesn't seem to work always. Even when it works sometimes, it
works only on win2000 machines. This doesn't seem to work on
Nt clients.
Could anybody help me here, Weber can you repost the whole thing
again, with the solution for the problem each one seem to face here.
I would like to incorporate this feature to one of my current project.
But i before that i need to make sure it works everytime and both
on NT and 2000 clients

I am sorry but I don't have a clue what error you are referring
everybody has. I have tested this Web part with Internet Explorer (IE)
6.0 and 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2000 and Windows XP and it is working on
both. I don't think it is related to the operating system but to the Web
browser and it's version. As far as I can say it will only work with IE
5.x and IE 6 and not with Netscape (any version) Opera (any version),
any PDA/Palm browser and IE 4 or lower.

As for the full solution, just check the archives. It is all there.

I don't think the SPS role based security model applies here. Also I
haven't tried it with anybody else than an Administrator account because
I use this stuff to announce events and don't let a user, whatever role
s/he is member off, post. Only an Administrator is allowed to announce
events here.

I can imagine that more tweaks are necessary to get this working with a
simple user account but haven't had time to dig into it further.

If anybody else did figure out more I'd love to hear about it...

You can use Outlook Smart Messaging or Outlook calendar  web part from
Microsoft and modify the code to navigate to public folder  wich would be
your calendar, then you can see different view.

here it is
