Calendar Issue

I have a group with an odd issue with their team calendars. The
"Title" disappeared and does not display when the user clicks on "New
Item" but displays in all Public Views and in the Datasheet view. When
I go into the Datasheet view and look at the columns, all looks
normal. The only fix I have is changing the column name then changing
it back to Title.

I am thinking that one of the users did something because this is not
happening with other team calendars. But I figured I better check it
out anyway.

Sounds like someone may have messed with the content types setting in
the calendar.

Go to the calendar's settings, and Advanced Settings. If "Allow
management of content types" is set to NO, change it to YES. Then, on
the settings page, in the Content Types section, click on EVENT.
The Title field will be listed in there, and it may have been changed to
Hidden. Simply click on Title, and change it to Optional or Required.
Then, you can change "allow management of content types" back  to NO.

Is there a way to fix  this at Central Administration. EVERY calendar  and
list on these two sites are hosed. I have about 125 site collections and an
untold number of team  calendars and lists, and I haven't found one or had
any other teams report on missing columns  linked to editing the column.

In each instance management of content types is disabled. Your fix does
work, but these two site collections have quite a few calendars  and custom
lists. I find it odd  that these two collections would have the same
identical issue  acros the board and no other collections have this issue.

That's very strange. No, I don't know of any way other than to manually
go in each list and fix  it. The only way I can think that it could have
happened is if you have a custom site definition that's configured that
way (with the titles hidden in lists), and those 2 sites were created
from it?

Very strange indeed. All of this started yesterday morning. I thought it was
limited to the calendars, but it is everything. Is it is possible that
someone created a list from a custom site defnition (there used to be one)
and somehow the new creation affected what was in place?
