Calculated Number Field

Asked By: Keaton    Date: Sep 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2609

Can anyone share with me "how to calculate a number field"? I have a
Shared Document item that I have added a "Number" field. I want this
number field to automatically assign a number to the added item. When
a item is added to the Shared Document item, I want the Number field
to reflect the next available number. So I believe the Calculate
field will be something like this "[Number]+1" but SharePoint 2007
displays the error "The formula contains reference(s) to field(s).".

Any thoughts to point me in the right direction would be helpful.

There is an ID field  on every list and library that has this behavior by
default. Will that work for you?

If not, what are you looking for this calculated  field to do differently
than the ID field does automatically?

You could just use the I'd field...
