(C1, C2, C3, etc...) area directories

Asked By: Nirmal    Date: Aug 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1001

I was wondering if anyone else has had instances of Sharepoint
arbitrarily creating directories such as C2, C7, C14, etc. when
creating areas and subareas. This wouldn't be so much of a problem
for me, if I DIDN'T have to worry about doing indexing on these
particular areas..

Does anyone know if there's a way to programmatically change the
names of the folders that are created with areas and subareas? If
anyone knows anything about this

These directories  are autocreated based on the total number of areas  that exist
in your portal (e.g. a new one is created  so there is never more than 20 areas
at a particular level). This is done for scalability reasons and though you can
change the number of areas in each "bucket" you can't disable the behavior
completely, and renaming won't help.
