Add Buton to Custom List

  Asked By: Dontae    Date: Jun 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1628

Using FP, I can add a button to a lists new form and redirect to
another page for processing. However, I need to save the users input
first. Is there a way to override the save and close function or
duplicate that functionality?

One approach I tried was to add  a button  with the following URL property:
javascript:ClickOnce();window.open(my external aspx page  to do some
processing)
this executed the save  then called my aspx page for further processing. Is
there any cons to this?

Has anybody used World Lingo http://www.worldlingo.com/ in WSS 2003 in
an elegant manner? We are looking for a way to include a "webpart" of
different language buttons that will magically translate the text in our
Sharepoint Site.

Yes that was an interesting approach, I learned something new! I did end up
just using FP to remove the normal navigation and I added a button  that
included the following javascript in the URL:

Javascript:ClickOnce();window.open(new url)

This accomplished the save  and close  function and then opened my new window.
Course now I can't figure out how to pass a value from one of the fields in
the list  via querystring. I tried document.[form name].elementid.value but
that didnt work. Here is the code snippet from a view source:

<SCRIPT>fld = new TextField(frm,"ProjID","ProjID","3333");fld.cchMaxLength =
"255";fld.cchDisplaySize = "";fld.fRequired =
true;fld.IMEMode="";fld.BuildUI();</SCRIPT>
<INPUT class=ms-long title=ProjID tabIndex=1 maxLength=255 value=3333
name=urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office#ProjID>   <SPAN
class=ms-formdescription></SPAN></TD></TR>

So I tried document.frm.ProjID.value but it returned a null value. How can I
refer to that textbox's value?
