Bulk importing documents: specifying versions

Asked By: Jonah Huffman         Date: Jun 24, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 312

I have several documents that have an official version number that I
must maintain when importing them into SPS (e.g. Document_A is version
4.0, Document_B is v7.0, etc). I understand that it is not possible to
import only the current version while specifying the version for each
one. Is this correct? Even with third-party tools?

To the best of my knowledge that is correct… but you could always do a workaround where you uploaded a blank version  of the document X times to get to a specific version number  if you had to have the version number.

What about adding another property to the document libraries… you’d have to manually set it, but it’s an option.
