Bug in MOSS Permissions for SSRS Report?

Asked By: Ralph Caldwell         Date: Sep 10, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 292

I have deployed SSRS reports to a document library within a MOSS web application and have followed the MSFT-recommended approach (technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326286.aspx) of adding users to the Visitors sharepoint group to allow them to view (and execute) reports. What is happening is that users with this level of permission cannot even see reports within the document library. I have to elevate their perms (to an unnaceptable level) by adding them to the Members sharepoint group before users can see reports. Has anyone else encountered this behaviour and/or resolved it?

Yes - this is a crummy feature of the integration between SSRS and SharePoint. Fortunately, your timing is excellent, as John Welch has posted a blog on this very topic in the last two weeks and has a nice workaround for it.

The link to the blog posting is here: agilebi.com/.../...sharepoint-integrated-mode.aspx

It requires you to create a custom permission  level, but he outlines the steps quite well.
