Bogus IP in host file by sharepoint

Asked By: Gaurang    Date: Sep 17    Category: MOSS    Views: 1142

I am configuring a new production farm for sharepoint 07. I am
configuring a single server to be the index server and I will have two
wfe's as query servers. Everything is fine until I configure the ssp
and tell it which index server to use. After I configure the ssp, it
add an entry to the local host file with the name of a server and an IP
address. The problem is the IP address is incorrect for the server
name. The IP address is the address of my index server and the name is
my central admin box. As you can imaging, it screws everything up.

Microsoft post this doc and it talks about bogus IP in certain
siturations, but they dont match my environment.

Any suggestions????

Is it just me or are all the URL's that are being pasted in have spaces in them?

It's just you. When I received Daniel's email the URL did not have a
space in it.

Not just you.

The URL was together on a single  line when it left me.

I dont have dual nics and I am not using NLB. It is just making up
the name and ip association. I would under if their were dual ip's
and it just got the wrong one.

For now, I will switch back to a non-dedicated index server  but dont
understand why is did not happen in my dev farm.
