best way to redirect URL in MOSS

Asked By: Garret    Date: Jan 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 3226

I have seen a few blog posts on the issue but wanted to ask the
Definitive Experts

I have a URL to a MOSS site that I want to redirect in the following way:

www.myinternetsite.com/products" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.myinternetsite.com/products will redirect to
www.myinternetsite.com/.../default.aspx

Tried AAM and it seems to only work at the web application level -
can't redirect at the site level.

I also tried a different welcome page with ASP redirect code for
www.myinternetsite.com/products" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.myinternetsite.com/products and the page library didn't like it
(code block).

Use a Content Editor Web Part on the default page  at
www.myinternetsite.com/products <http://www.myinternetsite.com/products>
. Write some HTML code  using the "meta refresh" tag to forward users to
www.myinternetsite.com/.../default.aspx

Why not create a redirect  page (built into MOSS) to do the
redirect. You could also do this using a Firewall such as ISA. The simplest
way is to use the redirect pages in MOSS. This is done by selecting to
create a new page  and selecting the redirect page option. Works like a
treat.
