Best way to hide a List definition?

Asked By: Russell    Date: Aug 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 762

I have a client who would like to hide the Contacts list definition so that
it isn't be default visible in the list of list definition one can add to a
site.

What is the best way to hide a particular list definition so that it doesn't
appear on the Site Settings -> Create page?

set PATH="C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\BIN";%PATH%

stsadm.exe -help deactivatefeature

pause

# The feature name is one of the folder names found in:

# C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES

# For example, ContactsList

stsadm.exe -o deactivatefeature -name ContactsList -url http://psn-w23-902

pause

stsadm.exe -o activatefeature -name ContactsList -url http://psn-w23-902

pause
