Basic Authentication vs. IWA

Does anyone know of any SharePoint functionality at all that is lost if
you implement basic authentication as oppossed to Integerated Windows
Authentication. I can't find any.

basic authentication  is in the clear, but will support macs, firefox, etc. if you use SSL, it isn't an issue, I don't believe.

We do both. Leave integrated checked because the command line tools expect it. Add basic  if you must.

I don't know of any issues, but if there is one I'd bet it will be some
SPS symptom rather than a WSS one.

Users editing and reading office documents stored in doc libraries will be prompted again to provide credentials. That gets old fast.
