Bad filename in document library

Asked By: Demarco    Date: Jan 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 983

One of my users uploaded a file with an '&' in the name. Some how it
was allowed but now all the documents that follow alphabetically in the
list have disappeared and has made a general mess. Any idea of how to
fix this short of deleting the entire document library and starting
over. I am just guessing thatthis is the problem... but 99.9% sure
this is the root cause of my troubles.

I'm amazed it let you add the file.

If this was me I'd try opening the folder in Explorer View or as a
Web Folder and see if you can rename it that way.

I did try opening in explorer before seeking help. All
the files past a certain point are not listed. Imagine a list of 60
files that ends abruptly at #23.

Would deleting  the "bad file" from database work? It
is not recommended to manipulate the database, but if
there is no other way ...
