When trying to restore SharePoint SP1 from Backup using BackupExec 8.6
Build 3878, I get the following error:

> Remote Backup Exec components detected, version (8.60.3878.0).
> Restoring data to \\XXXX\Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server .
> Storage Media #4: " Media created 12/13/2002 01:15:00 AM "

> Backup set #26: " XXXX MTWHF "
> Restore started on 12/20/2002 at 9:54:36 AM.
> Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.

I am currently waiting on hold with Veritas, but thought I would toss
this out to the group to see if you had any ideas.

I do not use BackupExec but is this a SPS aware version? If not
did you backup  using MSDMBack script?

Fully SPPS aware -- uses a specific agent for backing it up.

Hey the error that youre seeing "connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled."

May very well be cause by an outdated device driver, or mismatched version of the Remote Agent between the media server and remote machine is causing the Remote Agent to crash during the backup or restore.

verify that the media is fully patched up and that you have pushed the most current version of the remote agent to the remote machine.
