backing up sites

In this brave new world where business users manage their own Sharepoint sites, we would like to provide a mechanism for rescuing these people from anything really stupid that might happen and can’t be undone.

So far, my plan is to create a shortcut on the site administrator’s desktop that looks something like…

\\someserver\software\sharepoint\SMIGRATE -w http://sharepoint/sites/napp/mysite -f c:\temp\backup.fwp

If the admin thinks they are about to do something ‘risky’, they can open the shortcut before committing themselves. Of course, they are then responsible for tidying up the files afterwards (which, again of course, they’ll never do…)

Given that everyone must be in the same boat, does anybody have a better solution?

I think this is a rather creative solution. I like the idea immensely.
