Automation Error - Service Unavailable

we have severe problems with SPS. After trying to restore a backup by help
of the msdmback.exe we get an atomation error and cannot start SPS, we even
do not have any access to it anymore. It says "service unavailable" when we
want to start the site.

The sps  services should be running while restoring, and check whether the
application is indexed properly before restoring the workspace.
