SharePoint add an incremental ID for every listitem added  to a list  and
every document added to a document library. Does that not work for you?

actually i have a Issue list  , Sharepoint add an id(issueid) with
each issue.
e.g i have one item  id=1
now i edit this item , do some change and save it.
now if i add any new item share point give id=3 for this item , the
reason is tht on each edit share point increment  value of id by one.

From previous experimentation, observation and memory...

This is because the Issue list  has historical tracking of listitems. So,
every time that you save a listitem, a copy is first made of the
existing listitem creating a new listitem (this becomes the historical
listitem) and then your changes are applied to the original. That way
the ID of the original doesn't change.

If you don't want this behavior, use the Task list.

is there any way so i can
manage index(sequence no) in issue list  ,i just want to display a seq
no field  in my view page , and that should not change on edit , and
can automatically adjust after deleting any issue.

I've heard this request before but I don't know of any solution. Why
can't you use the Task list  instead?
