i'm new in sharepoint services 3.0 and i hope i can explain my scenario so you guys can undestand me.

i'm using the absence and vacation schedule template site to register absence days. what i want to do with the submit new absence list. is this:

The field "assigned to" i want to modify in a way, that when the user open the new item form it autamatically fill the "assigned to" field with the name of the approver corresponding to the specific user that opened the new item form.

is this posible in wss 3.0?
