Auto-Fill for New Item

Asked By: Cyrus    Date: Nov 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 9706

Is there any way to automatically fill a new form field with data that
can be changed? It needs to be Data from the object model.

Here is an example of what it might look like in HTML:

I am looking for a way to do that in a New Sharepoint Item only
filling it in with the currently logged in user (the AD name at the
top right of the screen, "COMPANY\Administrator" for example). The
.NET control for this is -- this.Context.User.Identity.Name --.

There are client-side tools that can be used to auto-fill  specific text
boxes or you could roll your own JavaScript. However, if you are looking
for a server-side solution, you'll want to look at custom field  types.
