Authoring Tool and Web Part from Microsoft

Asked By: Stephanie Lewis         Date: Feb 16, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 525

I've downloaded and tried out the tool and Web part from
www.microsoft.com/.../default.asp

When I ran the script I got an error message. And after I imported
and tried the Web part - another error.

I won't bang on it until I hear from a live person that it really
works. Does it?

I did have good fortune with the add-a-link web part for the doc
library:
www.microsoft.com/.../add_a_link.asp

Install and started using it right away.

And work it does....

You must read the readme file attached... in it, it explains the
following....

Installation:
1. From Command Prompt, execute the script:
cscript CreateAnnounce.vbs "http://<server_name>/<workspace_name>"
Ensure that you substitute your server name and workspace name as
appropriate.
This script  extends the standard Announcement document profile by
adding two
properties: Start Date and End Date.

2. Import this Web Part into your dashboard site.

To be sure. I did read the readme and executed the vbs script. But I
got an error  message back and I imported the web  part anyway and it
won't run either.

Any further ideas or experiences would be most appreciated.
