Author Delete Their Own Subfolder

Asked By: Judith    Date: Sep 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1019

Has any body encountered the following situation as I have and if anyone has
solution to this problem:

A user only has reader access to a Folder A
There is a Subfolder B under Folder A
The user has author access to Subfolder B
In Internet Explorer environment, user displayed content of Subfolder B
and then the user incorrectly clicked "Delete" for the Subfolder B
and the whole Subfolder B got deleted...

My original concept is that a user has read access to Folder A means the
user can read all contents including Subfolders but should not be allowed to
delete anything including subfolder. Even if the user can add documents into
the subfolder, he should not have priviledge to delete the subfolder.

Now it seems my original concept is incorrect.

But I believe my original solution represent a valid requirement. Anyone has
solution to this?

This is correct, you are an author  of subfolder  b, you have delete
rights to sub folder  b. There were some individuals that were working
on some workflow to stop the deletes but I have not tried any of these
methods as MS will not support workflow for a sps folder. I have run
into a situation where I did not want the "author" to be able to delete
a document and for our requirerments we provided an interface to for the
users to checkin/out. The interface used a id that had author rights but
the individual users did not therefore they could not delete.
