Authentication Problems with SPS

Asked By: Maulik    Date: Mar 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 619

We have the following problem:
When A use who is NOT Administrator on the SPS server brows Portal
pages, it asked to enter username and password, just like in basic
authentication, even though the authentication defined as Basic.
The amaizing thing is that even if the user enter username and
password, it does not uathenticate and if it press cansel every
thing continue as usual.

Sounds like there is some element of each page (a webpart or image most likely)
that requires different authentication  credentials from the rest of the page...

I have seen the same problem. I have been able to resolve this
problem two ways; one more drastic than the other. I have done the
following to resolve the problem:

1. Restart the server  and perform cleaning maintenance on SPS's SQL
Server database. This sometimes fixes the problem.

2. Backup your SPS project and reinstall SPS. While this is drastic,
it is sometimes the only way i have found to fix the problem. The
installer repair doesn't fix it.
