Assistance quickly creating moss hierarchy

I'm researching a way (have not figured out the CLI piece for it yet) to
do the following:

(based off one site collection already created)

Create Site1

- Create Subsite 1a

- Create Subsite 2a

- Create Subsite 2aa

- Create Subsite3a

...and so on.

I would be doing this to quickly build out the hierarchy for my test
farm. Anyone done this before or have any tips they would like to share?
