Using a asp.net control in a dataview form custom action in SharePoint designer

Has anyone been able to use a ASP.NET control as part of a dataview form. Our
thought is to have the user fill in some information in an ASP.NET textbox as
part of a dataview form submission, but instead of that information being
submitted to that list, we want it to be available as part of a custom action on
the 'save' button where we could send that information to another list on the
same site.

Any thoughts?
