Architecture for Reporting Services 2008 Integrated Mode

Asked By: Kyle Davis         Date: Nov 27, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 328

I have a question on supported architectures for a distributed MOSS
environment in full integration mode with Reporting Services 2008.

Is it a requirement that SharePoint's databases and Report Server's
databases be stored in the same SQL Server 2008 instance? Or, can
SharePoint's dbs be stored, for example, on production SQL server "A"
and Report Server's dbs stored either on its own local instance or SQL
server "B"?

It has been recommended that Reporting Services and its associated
databases exist on a server separate from the SharePoint server and its
databases.

That's how we have it in our environment.
