Approval announcments

Asked By: Marla    Date: Dec 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 842

I'm preparing for 'The' Dog and pony show tomorrow and am running into a big

I've got a versioned directory, with publication set up to five people, in
order. All five have a subscription to the folder, and it's set to 'whenever
anything changes'.

If I publish a document (I'm also the first person on the approval list), I
never get notified that a document is awaiting my approval!

Anybody encountered this before?

Anybody frustrated that this thing runs about 90% like you'd expect?

Did you associate your SMTP email address with the approvers?? And if so is
the SMTP service setup properly on your server?

Yup. Normal subscriptions appear to be working okay.

Are you receiving mail on subscription  changes? Sounds to me like the mail
portion is not working, thus no email on the approval  process.

Yes, I'm receiving notification on changes to subscribed documents. Mail
sent from that box is working also.

Do approvers need special permissions to the folder  (Author/Coordinator)?

Just because a person  has a subscription  to a folder  doesn't mean that they
will receive approval  notifications. A subscription notification is
different than an approval notification and it has nothing to do with
whether the approver is subscribed to a folder or not.

From the "Approval" tab, when you selected the Approvers did you also do a
"Set E-mail..." for each approver?? If the SMTP email address is not set
per approver they will NOT receive an approval notification.

Yup, did that too.

(I'm currently on the horn to Microsoft as we speak, I'll see what they come
up with and report back.)
