When you go in to the document library, you see three folders:
Dashboards, Documents, and Portal Content. When you drill down in to
the Documents folder and click on "Show Actions" you must check a
document out to edit a profile. However, if you drill down into, say,
the Portal Content folder, and choose "Show Actions" for a piece of
content, there is a "Edit Profile" link in the "Actions" box that
will allow you to edit the profile without going through all of the
steps. Anyone know how this "Edit Profile" link could be added to
the "Actions" box for documents so the Profile of documents could be
edited without having to check the document out?

Folders under Portal Content are standard folders  which means no check
in/check out versioning ect. documents  folder is an enhanced folder
therefore you must check  in and out documents to make changes in them.
You can change the folder  to a standard folder and not get the check
in/out but you will lose versioning and approval routing.

Yes, I understand that, so I guess what I am
asking is... Is it possible to add the edit  profile link  to an
enhanced folder  so one could edit the profile  without checking a
document out?
