Anyone combining MS Project & Tasks?

My PHB wants me to configure a new to us, SharePoint system for streamlining
IT projects and tasks associated with them. Like I don't have a full plate
already :(

Has this been done numerous times or am I going out into uncharted waters in
dealing with Project & Exchange - Tasks?

No SharePoint experience here as of yet but the help file looks simple
enough.

We are going to use the free version.

Am personally not - but would love to. Looks like you need MS
Project Server for 'real' integration. Check out this info:
