AntiVirus for MOSS 2007

Asked By: Marilyn    Date: Apr 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 873

Between the following:

Forefront for Sharepoint
PortalProtect for Microsoft Sharepoint
Symantec Protection for Sharepoint Servers
McAFee PortalShield for Microsoft Sharepoint

how have your experiences been? I was thinking Forefront may be the
best bet, b/c it's a MS product, and would hopefully play well, but you
never know.

We're going to test evaluate ForeFront. From our perspective, if
ForeFront jacks up the portal, it's Microsoft's issue. If McAfee jacks
up the portal, it's McAfee's problem ...and we'd rather throw our stones
at people in one glass house, rather than two.

I have used Portal Protect on both SharePoint v2 and v3. In our
environment we have an infrastructure TrendMicro for the desktops,
servers and application like Exchange and SharePoint. I have never
had an issue with Portal Protect it's self but on the 1.6 version
for SHarePoint v2 the agent for updateing the virus definitions and
scan engine would hang requireing the Trend Micro services to be
restarted. The 1.7 version for SharePoint 2007 I have not had any
issues with it.

We are looking at Forefront from MS but have not gotten very far on
its evaliation.

Okay Thanks,
We aren't able to try out an evaluation version of anything right
now, so I put in for Forefront. After reading all the reviews on the
internet, seems to be a logical choice.
