Another SSP Question

Asked By: Deangelo    Date: Nov 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 577

If I have two web applications....one hosting the portal and one hosting
the Records Center. I added a link to the Records Center to the
navigation of the main portal.

I was doing a little bit of reading on the SSP. Am I correct in stating
that each SSP comes with My Sites. So if I only want to have one MY SITE
(separate SSP as recommended) then I can create on SSP and associate
both web applications to it and have only one MY Site for the entire
portal. So in the end I will have one SSP and three web applications (1.
Portal 2. Records Center 3. My Sites).

Does this make sense? I am new to all this so please bear with me.

Yes, that makes sense. Having a separate web
application for MySite access is a good idea and is
actually MS best practice. You can either create  the
web application for the MySite access in advance or
you can create it when you provision the SSP.
