Anonymous users in extended web app cannot view contents

Asked By: Jamel    Date: Dec 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1230

The site directory has anonymous access enabled for users to be able to
have access to the entire site..
The sites list also has anonymous access enabled..
All the sites in the list have anonymous access enabled..
Yet an anonymous user cannot view the sites..
Any ideas?

Are you saying they can't see the items in the sites  list or they can't navigate
to a site  in the list? If its that they can't see the sites in the list  then
double check to see if the FormViewLockdown feature is active. This keeps
anonymous users  from accessing pages in the _Layouts directory. If its active
turn it off and try again.

I just tried this in my test environment and on my system it works fine.

I turned on anonymous  access for the SitesDirectory site, the child site  I want
to open anonymously (the site directory  is not the parent of the child site). I
also needed to break inheritance and turn on anonymous access  for the sites  list
itself. After doing those things anonymous access to the child site worked.

In my case, the sites  listed in the site  directory sites list  are child sites of
the site directory..should that make a difference?

If they are child sites  and you haven't broken inheritance then they should get
anonymous access  by inheritance. I had to give it to my non-child site

Is that located in site  collection features?

As I remember its a hidden site  collection feature. if you try to deactivate it
on your site via stsadm it will tell you if its active or not.
