Anonymous discussion threads

I know there is an add-on to allow anonymous comments from
authenticated users on blog. Just wondering if there is there something
similar to allow anonymous discussion threads?
If there isn't my thought would be develop an event handler that does
the add/update as the app pool account. Sound reasonable?

Here's how to enable anonymous:

First, you have to enable it at the web app  level:
1. In central admin, Application Management, click "Authentication
2. At the top right, pick your web app
3. Click "Default", but a check box next to "Enable anonymous  access",
and SAVE

Then, go to your site collection's Site Settings, and permissions.
1. Click <Settings> in the toolbar, and you'll see a new option, called
"Anonymous Access"
2. Choose either "entire web site" or "lists and libraries".

THEN, go to the particular discussion  board where you want to enable
1. Go to the permissions for that list.
2. Click <settings> on the toolbar and choose "Anonymous access"
3. This screen has checkboxes that let you select what you want
anonymous users  to be allowed to do (Add, Edit, Delete, and View Items).

(You might want to make sure it's okay with everyone before enabling
anonymous, especially at the web app level)
