Are there any best practices regarding enabling anonymous access to
Sharepoint sites?

We have requests to turn it on for a few sites. Mainly collaboration
sites where people want to share data publicly and don't want to have to
deal with adding dozens of unique accounts to do so.

My gut says that any anonymous access within SharePoint is potentially
opening up a can of worms, and I see bits here and there saying that to
have a secure SP install, you really shouldn't enable it, but nothing
concrete in terms of it turly is a bad idea or not. Anyone have any
specific links with more information on this subject?
