Anonymous access to lists

Asked By: Bridget    Date: Oct 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 846

We have a web site www.thn.fhsk.se which is opened for anonymous
access. One of the sub sites is used as an intranet and is opened only
for authenticated users.
When it comes to the opened parts, the anonymous users can see pages
but have no access to any lists although I have given them access to
the whole web site. When I create i.e. a blog letting it inherit the
rights from the parent site the anonymous user can see the the site but
have no access to the list Categories. They are asked for credentials
and then they get a 401 unauthorized.

I can actually answer a question on here and I'm only

I can only answer it as I did the exact thing yesterday on my intranet!

I am using WSS 3.0 rather than moss but thinking that its pretty much
the same in the respect

Heres the help I found and got it working well.

Just create  the list/survey/doc library and then go the the list
settings and then click on permissions for this list.

Then click on action> edit permissions. This will make a copy of the
parent permissions and copy them to the list. All permissions for the
list are now controlled here. To add anonymous  access permission click
settings> anon access. Now you can add the permission you want
anonymous usser to inherit  on this list.
