Announcements Web Part

  Asked By: Cale    Date: Sep 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 732

Has anybody tried using the Announcements web part in an SSL
environment? I get this error message:

Script Execution Error: Wrong number of arguments or invalid property

This web part works fine on the site without SSL, but once I implemented
SSL, it stopped working and I get this error message.

I've been fooling around with it. What I'm trying to do is setup
multiple announcement folders, accessable by setting the url in the
announce.xml file. This actually works  OK as long as the folder
exists. We also have an ssl  site. I've been trying to track down
all the protocol references and make them substitute some data.
There seem to a ton spread out between the vbs file and the asp files.

Very frustrating. I'm at the point of completely rewriting the
bugger if I get the OK for the time. (I'm consulting). If I manage
to fix this I'll either post the code or some tips, depending on
what needs to be done.

Does anybody know why the Announcements Web Part does not work when SSL
is implemented? I get this error  message:

Script Execution Error: Wrong number  of arguments or invalid  property

It works  fine before SSL was implemented.

Most of the web  part you can find will not work with SSL

For announcement and events, check

I tested it, it works  great.

I was able to get the events web  part to work but I
get the same error  message for the announcements  web part. Did you get
that one to work with SSL?

Make sure that this function is added in the beginning of the VBScript

Function GetDBProtocol()
On Error Resume Next
Dim strProtocol
If ("off" = GetServerVariable("HTTPS") ) Then
strProtocol = "http://"
strProtocol = "https://"
End If

GetDBProtocol = strProtocol
End Function

Then locate in the Init and GetContent function if there is any http://
hardcoded and replace it with GetDBProtocol()
