Announcement web part

Hi All,
I am having an announcement webpat in my home page.
I created an announcement saying " John finished his project successfull." and i saved it.
Once i saved sharepoint portal will send an email to 300 people who were created "Alert Me" on this announcement web part.
After few seconds i reliase that i mis-spelled the word "successfull".
Once again i am editing that announcement and changing the text "successfull to successful" and again saving it.
At this point once again sharepoint portal will send an email to 300 people.
My problem is:
Is it any way to control the sharepoint sending email. Because for a small text change, its sending 300 email.
Like this can we able to do........ like keeping an checkbox, if it checked than email can fire if not then no email should send.
Or any other idea please....................

1. Add a yes/no column (default: no) to the list, call it "Approved"
2. Create a new view called "Approved Items", set filter to demand "Approved Equals Yes"
3. Transfer all alerts to target this view
4. From now on, set Approved value to Yes only when you are sure you want users to receive the alert
