Allowing anonymous uses to fill our surveys

Asked By: Clifton    Date: Nov 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2346

I am fairly new to Sharepoint Services. I have a Sharepoint Services
site in a hosting environment that consists of a public site, where
anonymous users can view the entire sites and serveral team sites
where volunteers login and exhange information.

I am trying to set up a survey on the public portion of the site that
gathers some contact information from the people that fill it a
survey and also asks them a few questions. My first survey is
essentially a RSVP form for an event we have scheduled in a couple of

I would like anonymous users to be able to fill out the survey, but
not see the results that others have submitted, because it contains
contact information.

I have not been able to get this to work. It seems that I must set
the survey so that people can view all responses before I can enter
any info on the "Change anonymous access" page. Otherwise, it just
won't let me check any of the boxes. I would like to be able to just
check the box "Add items". When viewing of all responses is allowed,
then checking "Add items" also automatically checks "View items" and
I can't have either alone, but must take the both options. This
allows anonymous users to fill out the survey, but they also can view
everyone else's response.

I know that this is possible, because I've seen a survey on another
site and filled it out anonymously and the system threw up a login
box when I clicked on the view option. I posted a comment on that
system, asking how it was done, but I haven't received a reply.

I did read a note somewhere that perhaps the permissions on the
newform.aspx associated with the survey might need to be modified so
that the IIS anonymous user had more access to it. I can see the
newform.aspx with FrontPage 2003, but I don't see how to modify the
file permissions for it.

I would greatly appreciate any help with this. The event is coming
up soon and it would be real nice to have the RSVP survey working.

User need to be able to contribute to the site  to be able to fill  a survey. I
don't think you will be able to allow anonymous  user to fill a survey  unless
they login  to the site
