Alert when something in a view changes

I have a number of lists on a sharepoints site. One of my lists
allows me to set up alerts when something in a "View" changes. I want
this option on all my lists, but I do not know where to set it.
(Could this only be for Contact lists?) My Calendar and Message board
Lists do not have this option.

That is strange. All of the lists  in my site  have the "Alert me" option  under the "Actions" section. Where do you set  up alerts  on the list that you can do it? Screenshots always help.

I think you only get that option  when you create a custom view  on a
list.

I get it on every list. Is that functionality specific to WSS?

I posted a poor description of my problem, let me re-state my problem. I can add an alert  to all my lists. However, on one of my lists  (Contacts) it lets me receive an alert when something is added or updated to a VIEW within the list.

I have multiple custom “View” over my calendar  and I don’t get that option  with my calendar. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I just did some
testing and it seems that the Calendar list template just won't allow
for view-based alerts.

Can anyone else confirm this, or provide an explanation?

I thought that this option  was only available in Issues lists  in v2.
However, it is on nearly all lists in v3.

We are MOSS 2007. I specifically want to get alerts  based on a view  for my
Calendar. Is there a setting?

I have added a "TYPE OF EVENT" column. Our radiothon team only wants to be
notified if a radiothon event is changed or added.
