Advanced Search

Asked By: Kevin    Date: Sep 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1091

I've copied the search.aspx page into a new area I created and
renamed it to default.aspx so when you click on the area you are
shown the "simple" search page. Does anyone know how to change the
behavior on the page to show the "advanced" search page by default
instead of the "simple" one?

I can get to the "advanced" page by clicking the button which does
a "javascript:toggleMgmtAdv('sch', 'adv');"

I'm just not a good enough programmer to go in and follow the code
to see how the page is displaying and change this behavior.

Is there a simpler way to do what I'm trying to do (which is show
the advanced search page)? Thanks!

I'm trying to setup a page  where you can select "Search" from the
top menubar and be taken to the advanced  Search page. Currently I
have a copy of the default.aspx page that is displayed when you do a
search. The "Advanced Search" hyperlink is availible under Actions
in the left toolbar. Does anyone know how to make the "Advanced
Search" the default  when you go to this page? I know that the same
default.aspx page contains both the "Simple Search" and "Advanced
Search" code, but can't figure out how to change  what is shown by

Or does anyone have a better idea for an easy way to get to an
advanced searh page?

Invoking a javascript  function toggles between Advance search  and Simple
Search. To find the function hover your mouse over the "magnifying
glass" icon adjacent to the search box.
The downside is that this function is different from Portal to portal.
If any of you know/find where this is stored (I could not) do let me

It will be something similar to this.....
