Advance Search

Asked By: Dario    Date: May 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 844

I have a problem in advanced search. I have to get advanced search in
WSS site in SPS portal.
I have created two webparts
1). One by extending
2). Second by extending
I have called render children function in both web part.

But when I imported both web parts in Web Part page then it does not
render any fields in it. As i can see in advanced search page. So i am
not able to do advanced search.

Is there any problem in it or have i missed any steps or properties.
or is there any other way to get advanced search in WSS.

I would call into the SPS Search.asmx. I describe how to do this in a
chapter in the Resource Kit. You will need to dynamically construct a
CAML query.

I just got back from the last class (Dallas) and was informed that
someone DELETE the advance  search page  on our MOSS install. Now my
search features do not work - Is it possible to just recreate
the "advance search" page? At present this isn't a heavily used
feature but it will once it is in full production (about 30 days from
now). Thanks for the assistance.

Check recycle bin.. site  should be in there.

Otherwise, if not try this:

- Delete the search  center site

- Go to main site homepage àSite Actions àCreate Site

- Choose enterprise tab and search center

That is what we were thinking about
doing (since we couldn't retrieve it from the Recycle Bin) but wanted
to make sure we did add any additional headache.

Yes, as long as the advanced search  web part  is not deleted, you should
be able to create a web  part page  and add the advanced  search web part
to it. You need to name the page the same as before (same path and page
name, advanced.aspx) or you will have to configure so the "Advanced
Search" links are redirected to this new page.
