Adobe I Filter

Asked By: Dora    Date: Mar 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 888

Does the adobe I filter enable the content of the .pdf to be searchable
in SharePoint?
I know that I can search on the title of the document and it will be
retrieved, but it doesn't seem to retrieve the document when I search
on a word or phrase contained in the .pdf.
Is there something I am missing?

Yes, you need an iFilter for each additional unsupported document  type.
Once you install that (properly) and run another full crawl, you will be
able to search  the contents of PDFs.

Is the PDF an "image" PDF created by a scanner? .or is it a "text" PDF that
has indexible content?

actually, no, it is just a regular plain old .pdf...with text that should be
indexible.
