Admin rights for Server Administrator

Asked By: Weston    Date: Sep 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 859

We just went live with our Intranet using SharePoint Portal Server
2003. One of the issues raised after that is that the Domain Admins
who have Administrator role on the Server have Admin rights in
SharePoint too. So they can see Actions like Create Subarea, Manage
Content, Manage Security etc. We would like to remove those Actions
for them. Is there any way to do this? Any help would be greatly

One thing I have noticed is that if you remove  the domain  administrators
group from the sharepoint server  administrators group on the SharePoint
machine, then the members of that group will not have the full
privileges you mention.

So what we frequently do is remove the domain administrators group, and
then give administrator rights  to whatever non-person accounts that need
to access the machine, such as our backup procedure.
