Admin rights for Server Administrator

Asked By: Meagan Bradley         Date: Mar 12, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 247

We just went live with our Intranet using SharePoint Portal Server
2003. One of the issues raised after that is that the Domain Admins
who have Administrator role on the Server have Admin rights in
SharePoint too. So they can see Actions like Create Subarea, Manage
Content, Manage Security etc. We would like to remove those Actions
for them. Is there any way to do this? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

All I can think of is to remove  the domain  Admins group from the
Local Administrators group on your web server. By default, all
servers that join a domain have this group put in the Local
Administrators group. What you could do is add each trusted
SharePoint administrator  individually to the Local Administrators
group, thus limiting the access for the domain administrators.
