Adding web part to home page on a site

Asked By: Devan Kline         Date: May 11, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 250

I wished to know whether it is possible to add a web part to a home
page on a site programatically.
I know that a web part can be added to a webpartpage programatically.

However I would like to know how can I add a web part on a home page of
a site.

You can only add web  parts to web part  pages.

Is there any way that I can add  a webpartpage  programatically.
All I want to do is to add a web  part/parts of my choice(existing in
sharepoint) whenever I create a site.
I know that I can include the web parts to appear on a home  page in
the module element of a site  defination.
However that a again would be static.
I wish to add web parts programatically  to a site(web part  page or
home page) every time i create a site.

How can i go about it.

Certainly possible. I'm doing it on Smart Page creation. However, I
don't have the details at present. I do have this on the list of things
to post to my blog (http://MindsharpBlogs.com/Todd), so when I get it
documented you will see it there first.
