Adding Users with Address Book hangs

Asked By: Bob Bolton         Date: Oct 16, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 416

I am trying to add users to a site with the "Address Book" button from a
laptop with dual monitors and Office 2003 installed. Windows Firewall
is disabled. The browser window is on the main laptop screen when I
click the "Address Book" button. If Outlook is closed, I am prompted
for a profile to use. If Outlook is open, I am presented with the
Address Book to choose from. When I make my selections, I get the "a
program is trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook"
warning. I check the box to allow access for 1 minute and click YES.
Then the browser hangs for over 1 minute with an hourglass and a
partially redrawn screen. Eventually, it will return to the state the
browser window was in before I clicked "Address Book" without any names
in the "Users" box and no error messages. Others in our organization
are using this feature without any problem, so it appears something on
my laptop is misconfigured.

Yup, it is the dual  display. Just use the primary display as Andy suggested. This is a common issue.
