Adding Documents and Searching

Asked By: Pauline    Date: Feb 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 548

Is anybody aware of a time latency between the time a document is added
into the portal and the time it can be searched on. I added a document
yesterday evening and I tried searching for it this morning and I do not
get a hit with that document. I tried both the simple and advanced
search feature. I verified that the document is there. Can somebody shed
some light on this matter?

but is the document  published? A document must
be published to be indexed. When I publish a document, my general lag time
is one minute or less before I can search for it.

if it is a part of enhanced folder then the document  has to be published to be
part of search result. check how you are doing the indexing.u may also try full
index.

So even if I'm an author collaborating on this document  within my
folder, I won't know anything about this document unless I navigate to
this folder.

That is correct. For a document  to be indexed, it must be published. A
document that is in a standard folder is considered published with every
save. A document in an enhanced folder must explicitly be published.
